On the morning of August 22, a research team consisting of Li Yongjun, Director of the Industrial Development Department of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee Financial and Economic Affairs Office; Wu Tianzhu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Integrated Circuits at Shandong University; and Yang Fang, Associate Professor at Shandong University of Finance and Economics, conducted an in-depth field investigation at Jinan Lujing Semiconductor Co., Ltd. The focus was on understanding the company’s technological breakthroughs in the R&D and production of silicon carbide (SiC) power devices and the challenges in industrial chain collaboration. Xu Wenhui, General Manager of Lujing Semiconductor, accompanied the team and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as collaborative innovation in the industry and tackling core technological challenges.
At the company’s exhibition hall, both parties exchanged views on the development trends of the semiconductor industry. The research team listened to presentations on Lujing Semiconductor’s technological breakthroughs and industrialization progress in the field of SiC power devices, as well as the existing challenges faced by the company.
The research team pointed out that Lujing Semiconductor’s case reflects structural contradictions within the province’s semiconductor industry: "Technological advantages in the materials sector have not been effectively translated into industrial advantages, essentially epitomizing the disconnection between R&D and manufacturing."
During the subsequent symposium, the research team, representatives from Lujing Semiconductor, and Shandong University discussed the current state of the industry, Conduct gap analysis against top performers while leveraging our competitive advantages for differentiation.
The investigation was a much-needed "timely rain" for the company. Lujing Semiconductor will treat this research effort as a new starting point, focusing on leveraging the synergy among government, industry, academia, research, and application sectors to collaboratively empower Shandong’s semiconductor industry and build a distinctive representative enterprise in the wide-bandgap power semiconductor field.
